Desert Penguins Triumph in London Chess Tournaments

We would like to congratulate our Chess Penguins with another Brilliant performance last weekend.

Royce chess family Alex + Anastasija had such a fantastic success! Alex came 2nd at Barnet & Finchley London Finals Qualifier in Under 8 years old section. He qualified for the Finals for the 3rd time in the U8 section with 5 wins out of 6 games and won a money prize of £20. We hope Alex will play in Under 10 years old section in future events. Alex`s mother, Anastasija, won her first ever tournament on English soil. She won a very difficult Under 120 section in Golders Green Rapid event. With an outstanding result of 4 wins and 2 draws, she won a money prize of £150.

Arman Tengayev has been the star of the weekend. Arman played fantastic chess at Barnet & Finchley London Finals Qualifier and finished tie for 1st place in a tournament with over 95 children taking part. Sensational Performance! He qualified for U10 Major London Finals with 5 wins and 1 draw out of 6 games and won a money prize of £50. Arman won a very important award recently: Dulwich Prep - Best Chess Player of the Lower School 2018.

Ismail Longia-Zaidi has been consistent throughout the 2018 chess season. He became 3 times British Champion and performed well at the World Championships in Minsk, Belarus. As a result, Ismail received a trophy from Westminster Under School: The Most Improved Player of the Elite Chess Squad.

Andy Wang improved remarkably in last months. He had a great tournament at Barnet & Finchley London Finals Qualifier. Andy finished with 4 wins out of 6 games and qualified for U12 years old Minor Finals, just 0.5 short from Major finals. For sure Andy will qualify for U12 Major Finals in one of the future qualifier events.

Congratulations and well done!
