Congratulations to our star Penguin Saahil Bansal on his sensational performance at the 2019 European Chess Championship. He achieved the highest performance of the England team (1905 FIDE) and showed incredible chess skills and knowledge. Saahil`s 8th game against a very strong player from Switzerland is by far his greatest chess masterpiece. Here are the words of England Head of Delegation, David Zakarian: "With regards to rating or ELO performance, Saahil achieved the highest score (of entire ENG delegation), for he increased his rating 124 points with 1905 FIDE performance".

Saahil took part in UK Chess Challenge Southern Challengers tournament last weekend. He won Under 14 year old category and qualified for the ultimate stage of this countrywide competition, the Terafinal. Saahil had a fantastic tournament and a great win against 2nd Place Saidmurodov Shahjahon. He will now play in the Terafinal, which will take place on the 21st and 22nd September, where he will fight for the main prize of £1000.

We would also like to wish Saahil the very best of luck at the upcoming World Championships in India where he will represent England and of course Desert Penguins junior chess club.
