Barnes Tennis Club Finals Day

Barnes Tennis Club ran their Annual Tournament Finals Day on Sunday 8th July, traditionally the middle Sunday of Wimbledon when that tournament is well under way with exciting matches and sometimes shock results.

Well our tournament was no different in many ways. JB Gaudin retained his Singles Title beating off his opponent Pete Dickinson in two straight sets. The temperature was pretty high yet they managed a good energetic match, fun to watch.

The Mixed Doubles was won by first time partners Louisa Platt and Nader Sophoclis, beating the reigning champs JB Gaudin and his wife Corinne Chant with quite a resounding score.

The Men's Doubles was won by first time partners Colin Ziegler and Dom Cox who beat also first time partners Peter Whish and Pete Dickinson. Some lovely rallies through the match but in the end the more consistent partners won the match.

The Ladies' Doubles was won by Louisa Platt and Fiona Thompson who beat Philippa Purser and Millie Spooner in two sets. Again, some exciting rallies throughout the match but the stronger pair took control.

Refreshments were on hand throughout the day keeping fans and supporters alert and ready to watch and learn!
