UK Chess Challenge Megafinal Stage

Desert Penguins Chess Club will be holding a qualifying tournament for the UK Chess Challenge Megafinal Stage on Sunday 18th March 2018 at Barnes Sports Club.

This is an annual chess competition for young people aged from under 7 through to under 18. Last year over 40 thousand took part. It runs in four stages, the first stage is a qualifying competition which takes part in the school or chess club, over seven weeks. The best girls and boys in each age group qualify to take part in local "Megafinal" in April or May. From there, the best players qualify in each age group to a regional "Gigafinal" in Reading in July and then potentially to a national "Terafinal" in August.

Boys and girls in U7, U8, U9, U10 and U11 age groups can qualify through this Last Chance Saloon by finishing top in their age groups or by scoring a minimum of 17 points. More information can be found on the Delancey UK Chess Challenge website:
